A Roof With a View–Evarito’s
There’s a new view of South Norwalk from the recently renovated Evarito’s restaurant. The sleek, modern eatery known for fresh, authentic Mexican dishes, recently opened a street-level corner patio under the shadows of the Metro North rail bridge as well as a chic, Brooklynesque rooftop bar overlooking the city, with views to the Sound—the perfect locale to sip a signature margarita or their addictive Watermelon Smash.
Each area offers a nice dining experience along with an array of dozens of tequilas, wines, and cocktails to pair with Evarito’s inventive menu. Servings are generous and lend themselves to sharing. The raw bar includes oyster, clam, and shrimp options and there is also a fresh catch ceviche and campechana de Mariscos on offer.
The homemade guacamole is outstanding—avocado chunks, lime, cilantro, and pico de gallo. Even the corn chips are freshly made on site, as are the hand-pressed tortillas. There’s also a grilled cactus salad, queso fundido, and pulpo al carbon (woodfired Portuguese octopus, chorizo, and hominy). Classic versions of soft-shell tacos (beef, chorizo, chicken, pork, and fish) are all fresh and delicious. A kids menu called “Ninos, eat your veggies,” offers steamed broccoli, apples, and carrots, along with a fun selection of Mexican soft drinks.
