The Art of It: Illuminations
Alvin C. Hollingsworth is known for his strong and graceful figures
The Pound Ridge Library Art Gallery will host the dynamic and groundbreaking art of the late Alvin C. Hollingsworth December 5, 2015, to January 12, 2016. The exhibit’s theme, “Illuminations,” denotes the brilliance of Hollingsworth’s compositions and palette. The simultaneous complexity and clarity of the images are striking, revealing increasing detail as the viewer continues to observe. In this sense, both the paintings and the viewer are “illuminated.”
Adept in abstract and figurative art, Hollingsworth is known for his strong and graceful figures, figures within figures, and a sophisticated sense of humor. “Howdy Harlequin,” above, illustrates Hollingsworth’s fluid style of images within images and wide range of vibrant color.
