Owners of Aurora’s Find Their Dream Job

Lifelong Fairfielder, Lauren Orellana, met husband Byron while working together at a local restaurant, and quickly realized they shared a common goal. “We both had the dream of owning a restaurant, specifically in Fairfield,” Lauren says. “We  just love the town, the people, and the buzzing restaurant scene.” When the  opportunity to buy Cafe Madeline presented itself, the Orellanas did not hesitate. They kept the original name for almost six months before officially changing it in March to Aurora’s, named for their eldest daughter. “We wanted to let customers know we only wanted to polish it up and not change completely,” says Lauren. The chefs and many of the servers are also the same, making for a smooth transition to the new restaurant. ”This place wouldn’t be what it is without the great talents of our kitchen staff,” Lauren explains. Serving fresh Mediterranean fare with an emphasis on seafood, many favorites from Cafe Madeline are still on the menu. House specialties include a variety of homemade soups, swordfish steaks, pan-seared scallops with lobster brandy sauce, and sausage-stuffed butternut squash. Small plates, salads, panini, pastas, and pizzas round out the menu. “What sets us apart, besides our delicious food, is our priority to build relationships with our amazing customers,” Lauren says. “We want people to feel welcomed and important.”
