How do I keep holiday greenery fresh?

The first rule of holiday greenery is to always buy the freshest greens available. As soon as you get them home, cut the end of the stems at a 45-degree angle with pruners and crush them lightly. Then place immediately in a bucket of luke-warm water outside and let sit for 24 hours to drink. They will be dry from just laying around the nursery. Treat them with an anti-desiccant spray found at a garden center. This will help seal the foliage and protect them from further drying out.

Now that you are done with the conditioning process, you are ready to begin to decorate. Do not be afraid to add personal touches like rosemary, eucalyptus, cedar, and lavender to add fragrance and texture to your décor. You can also think out of the box to create interesting displays with twigs, fairy lights, dried branches, and moss, adding some silver and gold baubles for sparkle. Dried Hydrangeas look pretty and also last, adding another dimension. After your decorations are complete do not forget to mist them every few days with water.
