Daffodil Parade & Events – April 16-30
Few know former Kent resident, Birdsey Grant Northrop by name. The often-unsung “Father of Arbor Day” is best known for his mission to plant trees in the early 19th century.
Well, Kent has recently been on another planting spree. Tens of thousands of daffodils have been planted throughout town and this April a riot of yellow blooms will celebrate spring.
From April 16-30, 2020 there are many events planned including floral design demonstrations, special spring merchandise including daffodil tote bags for shoppers, daffodil cocktails concocted by the local bartenders, and daffodil inspired restaurant specials.
On April 25, 2020 the public is invited to join in a daffodil costume parade led by ethereal yellow and green clad dancers. Head off to Main Street to celebrate spring with the festive musicians, hula hoopers, and dancers starting at 11:30 am. Participants, observers, and their four-legged sidekicks are encouraged to dress the part, wear flower-adorned hats, clothing, and costumes. Check Kentct.com for schedule of events.
